Tansy and Bee Balm

This afternoon we're going to look at a woodstove we found on craigslist.  Our little boxwood stove got us through the winter but we really need something more efficient. The season's changing, I felt it come with the last full moon. The smell of the air, the rich golden colors of the wild flowers.  I love the wildflowers of August. Bee balm for slaves and soap.  Tansy for dye.   I think maybe I'll dye enough yarn for a sweater for me.  Yellow may be a welcome color come winter.  Have a wonderful weekend, friends.

  2. I've not seen that colour of tansy before. We have red and a bright pink...they attract the butterflies and hummingbirds. Tansy is one of my favorite wildflowers and I should think a nice yellow sweater would chase away the winter blues come February.

  3. Beautiful Blog.

Tansy! I have a little tansy patch just for dyeing. Amazing strong yellows, olive greens. I'm dyeing enough DK wool yarn for a sweater, one dyepot /batch is finished - a very deep olive green/black (alum mordant, with an iron after dip), using a very strong (the benefit of using weeds) dye bath. I will make another dye pot and do the other half of the yarn this weekend - then a winter project to work on.

Chokecherry harvest this weekend too (jelly, syrup, cough lozenges).

    Cheers,
    Jake
