Knitting and Making

More of the same today.  Knitting, making, and reading.

* The French Creek Cowl was knit from superwash merino that I hand dyed in a rich, warm chestnut.  It's next to the skin soft and sits nicely on the neck, without being stiff.

* Mittens for Luke.  I had just enough of the Peacock Blue left from my Toast arm warmers to make a much needed pair for my smallest boy.  It's a basic pair of mittens using worsted weight merino wool.  I

* On my needles: a cozy cabled hat I'm making up on the fly, using Peace Fleece worsted wool yarn.  I love it's natural, rustic texture and color!  It's a bit too scratchy for me, but my guys will be able to wear it with no problem.

* Reading: I'm told it's something involving whales.

What are you making these days?

  1. I am on my last Annabel Cardigan, finally! I am knitting this simple cardigan for all the women on my gift giving list. Inbetween all the cardigan knitting I am working on fingerless gloves and a little scarf.
Your cowls are really beautiful and I think it's so wonderful that you can make up patterns, that's a great talent.

  2. I finished up a coming home outfit for our newest member ( 5 weeks till due date, but who's counting?). I still need to do a hat to go with it.

Trying to whip out a couple antler cable hats for Christmas presents. Need to finish a sleeve for one son's sweater and need to do another mitten for the other son.

Then I will finally get to use your slipper pattern and make some for my husband.

My hands feel tired just thinking of it!

    1. How exciting, Eryn! The count down of last few weeks are always the hardest, aren't they.

    2. The anticipation is hard and my body is tired, but I'm trying to just focus and reflect on our family right now as these moments of being mother to two are about to change forever.

  3. We are reading a different Christmas story book every night for Advent this year. Next week I have planned to read "Shall I Knit You a Hat" so on my needles are some new hats for my children.
    Joy!
