We have a lot of summer birthdays in our family, but this was a big one! My wonderful husband, Mike, turned 40 on Saturday! He didn't want a big to-do, or even a small to-do for that matter. Just the boys, myself, and an afternoon at one of our favorite places ~ the Apple River.
None of us can clarify exactly what it is, but this part of the river feels very sacred to all of us. Stepping onto the grounds, the dirt, the air, the creatures come alive with an energy that evokes all of the senses creating a calm and peacefulness that we've only ever felt on this land.
I don't think it happens consciously, but whenever we are feeling overwhelmed or out of balance we end up here to heal, next to the flowing water, to carry our fears away.
Where do you go to rejuvenate?
